In my prior work with school districts, I saw that unless communities can navigate barriers to hold systems accountable to longer term change – even a few years of a phenomenal proximate leader and bold action isn’t enough.
Without sustained community involvement to hold the system accountable to a longer term vision, years of progress can be erased in minutes.
That’s why I believe structural change requires deep community engagement and equitable ownership in decision-making.
